Does anyone have experience with the Stone Guard for the 440? Are they any good. It looks a bit clumsy to have to detach it before you can get in the back of your car when the trailer + stone guard is set up?

Hi,

I haven't used mine yet. The bracket that was supplied didn't match the tow bar that I have. I contacted Stone Stomper and they were very helpful. They sent me a new bracket and I will get to test it on our next trip.

Anyway, to your actual question...
This is copied from the Stone Stomper website:

To access the back of your car when connected simply push your shin against the mesh and it stretches in, or unclip two snap hooks taking a couple of seconds.

I agree that is it not as convenient as a permanently attached stone guard on the trailer, but they seem to give better protection and quite easy to attach when you hook up the trailer.

Hi 4fun,
I thought the stone guard would be a bit of a hiderance when I wanted to get to the back of the Troopy, so we went with Rock Tamers. Gives me plenty of access to the back of the car and seems to keep the majority of stones off the camper. Just another option.

heers,
Mike
