After having to reverse the 440 in the dark a few nights ago, we realise we desperately need some sort of light at the rear. I realise there's minimal space to mount things on the rear of the camper. Room for a small light-bar maybe? Anyone done a mod to help with reversing the camper in the dark? Ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi Jos

I have a 490 (so more room to fit lights etc) but one thing that I did do which has turned out well was this.

When the auto electrician wired up the 2 LED flood lights to back of 490 I got him to wire in a switch so that in the on (default) position the lights come on as soon as I put car in reverse BUT when I turn switch to off position it turns the lights on when I am parked up.

This 'by pass' switch is inside the camper on my main control board

I find this is excellent when setting up a late (dark) campsite, the area behind the 490 is flooded with light

Just an idea for you to consider conqueror rear view.jpg

Thanks KiwiAngler.

I'm thinking those small LED lights like yours will be the way to go. I take it they've held up well on very rough roads? I'll probably have to remove the big triangle reflectors on the rear of the 440 as that's the only space to fit anything. I'm planning to get all my lighting/solar/switches organized and get an auto sparky to wire everything up for me in one go.

Is that a reversing camera you've got mounted above the spare tyre?

Jos

The lights have held up very well over 5 years on the road - did you check out my track on the link at bottom if my response ??

The camera is on all the time - not just for reversing

Hi Terry

I know this was an old thread but could I/we have more info of the reversing camera?

Manufacturer, wireless or hard wired etc, any tips on installation.

Thanks in advance.

Klaus
