I joined the forum some time back for information on the Conqueror range of campers with a view to buying a used 490. Well we finally have made the plunge and found one that suited our budget, albeit from the other side of the country in WA. After negotiating the sale and transport to Queensland and waiting the moments it has come home and we are getting stuck in to the cleaning and understanding of this future home away from home.
The first 2 nights set up at Woodgate we received around 200 mm of rain and have found out that they leak! Over the next few weekends we cleaned and tried to find out where the leaks are and sikaflex is to become my new best friend. I am going to start at the front and work my way back and seal everything.
Our planned first trip is over Easter and the following 3 weeks: Bluesfest at Byron then Hunter Valley, Lithgow area, down to the Murray across to Wentworth and then home to Queensland following the Darling River. Should have a good understanding of the frustrations over ownership after that introduction [smile]
I have found out many of the improvements and modifications that each of you have done and posted and look forward to applying those to our own. We have had camper trailers in the past but this is the first time with something this big so getting used to towing our billie cart through some of the tracks we like to travel will be interesting to say the least.
Anyway, hopefully we will meet some of you somewhere out there on the road sometime.

Cheers,
Russell & Julie

Welcome both - there's some good articles on this place that might be useful in terms of identifying potential leak spots. We've had our fair share of leaks which, we're happy to report, appear to be behind us (touch wood).

Sounds like a great shakedown trip you've got lined up - it always rains at Easter so you'll soon see whether you have the leak problem sorted.

Mel & Ben,

We will be in Cessnock Big 4 for 3 nights from March 29. We will be happy to meet with you during that time if your work permits. PM for my mobile.

Cheers,

Russell

Welcome to the sikaflex club. Collectively I believe we should have earned some shares by now in the company that produces that stuff ;-)
