Just picked up our new uev-490 from Dave at conqueror USA! We're so excited and are already on our first trip along the east coast Islands of the Southern United States. My wife and I are both enjoying every aspect of the camper. Everyday we learn something new. I just wanted to say that this forum was very helpful in making our decision to buy! Thanks all for posting your knowledge and experience over the years and have a very merry Christmas!

Glad that you guys are enjoying your new toy and, that this site was instrumental in your choice of the Conqueror camper. Exploring over the festive season here in Australia is quite hectic, and extremely hot at present. Hoping that your weather is kind for the "first timers"!. All the best for 2019........happy trails.

And thanks for sharing.
Cheers Filbee56

Not at all. Air bag helpers in the back and a tow brake controller. Tows 70mph plus on the highway with ease!

Thanks! Great news. I drive a 4Runner and have been looking at the 490 for about a year. At 4300 lbs wet I was concerned if the 4Runner would be sufficient. Airbags make a lot of sense too.

sorry for the brief posts...we were out camping. The trailer tows really well on flat land. We have no trouble maintaining highway speed limits at all. In the mountains of the east we were able to do 60MPH up long 6-7% grades. The 4Runner was in third for the uphills. It's got 'enough' horses to pull it but it does affect performance. Was missing towing with my 5 liter F150 FX4! That being said, I would not sacrifice the maneuverability that we get using the 4Runner for one bit. Might supercharge but even that would be overkill.

On sugar sand, we got stuck. tires aired down to 15PSI and still....brought sand ladders though and self recovered with ease. In wet mud we had no issues. The trailer wants to go wherever the 4Runner goes. Matching track width and the ease of maneuvering trumps horsepower any day.

At slow speeds it's an excellent match. Trailer brake controller is a must have as are helper air bags. We used the Firestone bags from etrailer.com. easy to install and performed flawlessly. We pack heavy when it's chilly outside bringing all the tent sides, buddy heater and extra 20lb propane, 2 dogs, lots of wine and food (my wife is an awesome cook) , extral 18 gallons of water and beach equipment. I only get the truck to level and it takes about 20 psi. here is a pic fully loaded with 15psi...bit of sag but rode smoother of the back roads we were on..

I would drive the 4Runner/UEV 490 combo anywhere. We love it.

No issues with the trailer but I did modify the steps, seal the entry hole for the TV antenna with gasket sealer, reworked the water line wrapping to allow the fridge to slide out and in easier, applied self stick rubber to all horizontal surfaces, and put self draining holes in the nose box. Our Bundutec awning came with a defect but I am repairing that myself...easy fix once I hear back from them.

The worst part about having a Conqueror in the USA is all of the attention it gets! We love answering questions though and have met some vert nice folks when we are out in the camper.

You are going to love it.

Being in Austin....go for the AC system....well worth it....as is the heater

Any questions...feel free to get in touch.
