Hi Guys (and gals)

We purchased a 2014 UEV 490 in early July and have just returned from our first trip - 94 Days and 19,800 km - cut short unfortunately as we had to return home as our home was threatened by the East Coast Bushfires - all is good now.

The trip was successful, unfortunately marred by having to replace th 003 (2016 x 1512).jpg  e REDARC BMS after it fried when connected to 240V in Carnarvon.  We had had intermittent faults charging on solar for the first 60+ days on the trip and the Auto Electrician (Auto Spark of Osborne Park WA) found multiple loose and incorrect connections in the panel. These were almost certainly a result of the previous owner having his "Good mate , a really good auto electrician" fit a 1 kW inverter in lieu of the original inverter and add a Australian 240v Plug connection in addition to the SA/UK/NZ connection.  We took the opportunity to up grade to the 30A Redarc BMS - but a lesson for young players is that you need to upgrade the circuit on your tow vehicle to 50 A as it can draw up to that amount from your tow battery.

When we got our UEV it came with no instruction manual - despite all the placards about "reading the instructions".   Do any of the forum have an instruction manual for the UEV490 that they could scan and send to me? (Narromine.fifty@gmail.com)  I have left a few requests on the Conqueror website but have heard nothing back... ;-(

Our van had clearly suffered from the wheel alignment issues documented on the forum, as the tires were partly scrubbed.  The vendor assured as it had been resolved - I have fitted new shoes about 6K ago and am watching the wear closely - looks OK at this stage.

On the trip (East coast up through Longreach, Mount Isa, Katherine, Broome, Perth and back east across the Nullabor  with deviations down the Tanami, Gibb river road etc)) we only saw three other Conquerors.  A very early small South African import at Mataranka Springs in NT which we were told was a 2008 model, a 44O at the Sandfly Roadhouse in WA in early Oct and a UEV 490 near Carnarvon.  Our Van - Named Zena the Road Conqueror (after her number plate and make) sparked interest wherever we went.

If any body can help with a manual, particularly a wiring diagram it would be great.

Hi Wandering Tiffie,
Regrettably, there is no Owner's Manual with the Conqueror campers, something that I should take up with Conqueror Australia.
I have put together a folder that contains all of the operator's manuals for the various accessories fitted to our 490. This folder travels with us whenever we head out. Any operator's manuals were easily downloaded from the internet, and printed out.
I also capture all of the kilometres that we travel.........point A to point B (date, departure, destination, kilometres, running total, etc). I'll send you a link to your email address.

We have just returned from a crossing of Australia trip in our 490. Jerrabomberra to Birdsville (Big Red Bash 2019), then down to Marree and up the Oodnadatta Track. Quick trip to Finke to see Lambert's Geographical Centre of Australia.
Then across to Ayres Rock and through to WA via the Great Central. A bit of outback exploring in WA.  Our return journey east was via the Nullarbor. This was my 12th crossing of the Nullarbor. Anyway, wishing you much success with your camper, and travels. We were on the road for 5 months, 20,500ks.

Cheers, Filbee 56

Gidday Wandering...glad you got out and about and enjoyed yourself (trials and tribulations aside). Just on the subject of wheel alignments, if you're in Brisbane and you need an alignment still, give Steve from Trailer Fixer Upper on 0417 629 766. He's out near Ipswich. Used to work for CA back in the day when they were based in Brisbane. Recently did our wheel alignment when the driver's side was very toe in. Dropped it off one Saturday and picked it up the next - easy as.

Thanks Doc

It may be he did our van. The previous owner lived out west in NSW and he told us that after his local wheel place couldn't fix it he took it up to QLD, maube it was Ipswich...

I will watch it closely.

I agree the manual is next to use less we have a 2014 and the wiring is terrible
with no sensible instruction. But amazingly have had no charging issues.
i think it’s a good idea to change the 240 inlet to a more standard Australian inlet to allow easier supply if something does wrong.

Also how many are heading to the big red bash next year.

regards Darry

Hi Darryl, we did the Big Red Bash this year [2019] and thoroughly enjoyed the event. Extremely well organised. Happy to provide some pointers if you haven't experience the Bash before. However, we should start a new post and not high-jack this one.  I know of one couple [friends] from Canberra who will be attending the Bash this year. So it's very likely that you'll see a UEV-490 at the camp-ground.

Cheers, Filbee56 [Philip]

Hi Daryl

As Filbee56 says, my wife (Caryl) and I will be at the bash this year, coming from Canberra. Would love to meet you.
If there is enough interest we can start a new post.
Send me a PM if you like.

Regards, Klaus
