Hi folks my name is Uwe Klietz and whilst I have been a member of this forum for about 4-6 weeks now this is my first attempt to subscribe to it.
I took delivery of my new UEV490 Extreme late Feb. and now trying to deal with a number of quality issues before I had of to the Eyre Peninsula in May, I was also interested in your gathering in August ( a week earlier would have ben great) but unfortunately will not be able to make as it clashes with a trip into the Coffs Hinterland for some 4wd and base camping with the new trailer.
I also have a question has anybody done the Binns Track from Mt Dare to Timber Creek in WA as I am planning on going in June with the new unit.
Cheers,
Uwe Klietz

Ps. Terry there seems  to be life after Viscount !!!!

Welcome!

I'm doing part of the Binns Track in July, but only a short part from Alice Springs to Mt Dare before doing the Simpson. Would love to do the whole of Binns, so make sure you take heaps of photos and share!

Scott

Alert - Thread Hi-Jack

Hey Scott,

From Mount Dare are you traveling via Mayfield Bore & Peebles Bore/creek to Andado and onto Mac Clarke Cnr ?

Or via New Crown ?

Just interested as my crew will out that in July/August and tossing up as to which way.

Oh welcome to the Forum Uwe.

Hi Scott        Did the section from Mt Dare to Old Andado and Mac Clark Reserve last year whilst doing the Madigan Line and you should not have any problems with towing the trailer over that section and from what I have heard it should be OK all the way to Alice but you might want to check road conditions with Mt Dare before you go.
Cheers,
Uwe

Just had to look it all up again as the trip we're doing is so long I've forgotten sections of it. ;-). At this stage, baring any unforeseen circumstances we will be leaving Alice Springs after having re stocked after having done the Finke Gorge, then heading down the Old Andado Track all the way to New Crown before going to My Dare, then the Simpson.
Alternating between anxious/excited and anxious/worried about a few sections of our trip, mainly the Simpson, but we'll assess that when we get closer to it.

Hi Scott,     I travelled East to West on the Simpson with no trailer and that was quite difficult and would not recommend taking a trailer into the Simpson at all as most experienced desert travellers advise it is just not worth it and recovery cost run into thousands of dollars.

Uwe,

Had a member of our crew do the Simpson last year East to West towing a camper and said it was extremely easy.
With conflicting reports I may have to re-plan my route. Only a couple of months before I head off.
Do I take the easy route, or the more adventurous one? ;-)
