Hi everyone
I'm just about to pick up my brand new Commander and phoned my insurance company to have it insured but they don't cover Conquerors.
Can anyone tell me what companies do cover us please?

Thanks
Ange

NRMA do. Nominated use periods as well to save some dollars.

Why don't the cover Conquerors? Are they a property insurer perhaps?

There are many insurers that insure camper trailers/caravans. A very popular insurer amongst the caravan/camper community is CIL. I don't use hem myself but they do have quite a following.

If you google Caravan Insurance all of the top insurance companies come up. Which one you use will depend on your personal circumstances. The company I use is WFI (West Farmers). I have all of my property insured through this company so I get a very good deal.

The policy I have (on both my 4WD and trailer) allows me to travel anywhere in Australia, on any road (regardless of condition). The only 3 conditions that apply are that 1) the vehicles are designed to go there, 2) I am legally allowed to go there (it is not a closed road, it can be a private road or even a beach etc) and 3) I didn't do anything illegal to contribute (drive recklessly, under influence of drugs/alcohol or do something the vehicle was not designed for.

Cheers

Anthony

My 490 is insured by Allianz through a broker in Melbourne as apart of my membership of Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia which covers caravans and campers as well as tow vehicles and it was $150 cheaper than AAMI and had better coverage.  My on road Van is also insured through them.

We had the same problem when insuring the camper. The main reason for this is because the brand and camper isn't in their systems. You have to give the specifications and they come back to you with a quote. Elders was the cheapest for us so we went with them [smile]

I tried everyone and got the complete run around from all & sundry, mainly because we live in Darwin (cyclones etc) then there is where it was stored, where it was to be used etc etc end of the day I went with API ( I qualify by the skin of my teeth hahaha) Less rubbish and regulations i found and it cost hardly any more to bring the excess down from 300 bucks to 100 if i was to make a claim. Most premiums where very close though (for agreed value) in price just thought the bullsheet levels increased. Good Luck. [wink]

Hi,
Unfortunately we had a disagreement with a young bull a few weeks ago. I'm insured by Youi and so far cannot fault them in any way. Initially got a good price to sign up, but now that we need to make a claim, no dramas.
Couldn't report it for 2 weeks as had forgotten who the insurer was... Not a problem.
Didn't want to take it to anyone other than Conqueror...... Not a problem.
Conqueror don't want to start on the job for a few weeks, and therefore won't be sending Youi any details..... Not a problem.

Have had calls from the same lady at Youi.

Can't beat that!

Youi sound like they will do the job

We have just reinsured our 2013 490evo with NRMA for $80,000 cover for just over $1000 pa.

What did you pay?

Hi Wutzl,

$800 something. Certainly not a 4 figure cost. Can't put my hand on doc right now. Do know that we'll be paying a $650 excess though.

Having to navigate the young lady at Conqueror service at the mo. Had initially been told by Conqueror that we could take it down next week, then advised that they wanted to see many pictures, so they could order parts from SA, which could take 3 months to arrive, then we could take it to them for the job to be done. A bit difficult to swallow as the damage is only to the front near side panel/ frame, sink and Aussie sourced gear.
I believe that space is a bit of an issue for them, and can understand that it's not great to have units sitting around, but 3 months wait!

We will just have to try to play nicely. Wait until it suits them, then make the 350k drive down.

Based on early info in this post I called CIL straight away as I wanted to be covered for next day hand over.
CIL was quick and easy. $600 pa for $55,000 commander . Monthly payments at no extra cost. Seems good . Good coverage etc
