Recieved my Commander a few months back and yet to see any fellow owners on the road.
Finding it does not tow so well, I guess the drawbar and suspension upgrade is the only answer to that.
An thoughts on that issue .

Hi Troopy

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase.

There are a number of reasons that you may be having trouble with the towing of your Commander. I have written a few posts her that deal with the issues that may be causing your problems.

Try searching for them using suspension upgrade, sway, shocks and coils as search terms. This way you will Be able to read all the info that has previously been posted. If it doesn't give the info required, I will repost what I have previously posted.

Cheers

Anthony

Thanks W T Conqueror , Its just a shame after spending the money we still have to make the alterations.
The Sth African overide brake also leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks

You're right Troopy!

But then again, I have probably spent $50 - $60k plus in getting the landcruiser just right.

With regrads to the brakes, you can upgrade these to electric - which I would consider an essential upgrade. It is a relatively easy job to do yourself if you are mechanically minded. It was an optional upgrade on the Commanders. Conqueror Australia may be able to help you out.

If you went that way, I would also consider upgrading the coils and shocks at the same time. It will greatly improve the handling and toeing of the trailer.

Cheers

Anthony

Yeah Conqueror installed the electric brakes system in our Navara for towing the Commander S - works wonders.

Lucky you Troopy. I still don't have one. But my father-in-law does, so it's not like it's all theory to me.
Congratulations, by the way.
