Greetings all

Long time readers, first time leaving a post.

My wife and I have recently taken possession of our commander and cannot wait to get out into the wilds.

Quick question. Can anyone recommend a good tow tug. We have a triton and were pretty surprised at the fuel consumption increase with the commander under tow.

We are based out of Maryborough in qld so give us a yell if you are passing through.

Can't wait to meet some of you guys out and about.

Hello there Chucky and Mrs Chucky
Welcome to the forum!

Would you believe I'm in Maryborough right now [smile] I'm at the Wallace Caravan Park (without the Conqueror as its in at HQ getting fixed).

Hi mr and Mrs Chucky!

We picked up our new 490 a month ago and initially got a bit of a shock with the weight. I am used to it now and the new fuel figures. We have a 4.2 Patrol and are getting around 16 litres per 100 Kim on bitumen. Mate traveled with us for three weeks towing a 3 tonne duel axle 20 foot caravan with a brand new D Max and got about the same.
Hope this gives you a helpful perspective.

I averaged 18 lts with a 3 lt patrol.
Towing a 490.

It's a lot of weight for a small engine. It is going to work hard and suck the juice.

We averaged over the last 18 months touring Australia 18-20lt per 100kms on all types of terain. Tow truck is a NT Pajero 3.2lt loaded up with it all the mods so we are quite heavy and with mud terrain tyres....unhook the van and it's down to 13-14lts per 100km's.

That's us on the cover page!
