Hi 390 owners, I've been racking my brains on how to fit a lift mechanism and 270 degree awning to my 390, finally after a lot of testing it's done. Just need to add gas struts.

G'day Mike,

I just saw this post. I am looking at doing the exact same thing. Could you by any chance post more pics and info about the brackets/lifting mechanism? Have you had any issues since you fitted it?

Thanks in advance

Nach.

Hi Nach
Please see attached pictures
The awning is mounted on 2mm aluminum. The most difficult part is getting everything lined up for easy lifting. I had to have the gas struts adjusted for the weight of the mechanism/awning. As it is to lift it you do need either 2 people or you need to lift one end up 50mm at a time. Getting it back down is easy, you just need to pull down in the middle. I've also put rubber pads under the aluminum where it sits on the camper to stop abrasion/wear. It hasnt moved and I haven't had any issues with it as it is. Its done 10000klms of dirt roads without a problem. Its attached with rivets and Sikaflex 227.
Let me know if you need any more info etc

Thank you so much!
It looks awesome!

I'll see if I can get a fabricator to build it for me. It seems as your rear "door" is different to mine, so that might have to be modified.

Thanks again

I fabricated my rear door as they were just holes for the gas cylinders. Should be able to fab one up easily, just fit the square tubes inside each other to the camoer before fixing the aluminum to them otherwise it willbe difficult to get it to lift easily if it's out of alignment.
Good luck 👍🏼
